The second Tunisian Crochet stitch you should learn is the Tunisian Crochet Purl Stitch, abbreviated ‘tps’. Combined with the Tunisian Crochet Knit Stitch, it becomes almost impossible to determine if your project was knit or crochet!

The Tutorial
Please note that Tunisian Crochet rows are actually 2 rows. You work from right to left, and then back from left to right to complete a row. In Tunisian Crochet, you do not turn your work.

Like any crochet project, you’ll start off Tunisian crochet projects with a series of chains. For your tutorial swatch, chain 13.
Row 1a – Work into the back “bump” of each chain starting with the second chain. Insert your hook into the bump and yarn over. Pull up the hook, leaving the loop on. Continue to the next bump and so on until you have 13 loops on your hook. Row 1a is now complete!
Row 1b – For your next row, you’ll want to chain 1 to start. Then, you’ll be working your way back across. For the rest of the row, yarn over and pull through two loops.  You’ve completed your first Tunisian Crochet prep row when you have one loop left on your hook!
Row 2a (Forward Row) – Here’s where we change things up a bit! With the yarn in front of your hook, insert the hook into the vertical bar created by Row 1a. With the yarn now in front of the vertical loop, yarn over and pull up loop. Continue to next vertical bar and so on until you have 13 loops on your hook. The last stitch is inserted in the chain one of the previous row.
Row 2b (Return Row) – Repeat Row 1b. When you have a single loop on your hook, you have now completed an official Tunisian Crochet Purl Stitch row! Continue the Forward/Return row combo to desired length.

The Tunisian Crochet Knit Stitch, abbreviated ‘tks’, is the go-to stitch for learning Tunisian Crochet. Mimicking the traditional knit stitch, once completed, you’d never know it was done using a crochet hook!
